The process of removing these impurities after oil extraction section is called palm oil refining. --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 528\/572;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Degumming<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Purpose:\u00a0To remove gums (phospholipids) and other impurities from the crude palm oil.<br \/>\nProcess:\u00a0Phosphoric acid or water is added to the heated crude oil under vacuum, which hydrates and separates the gums.<br \/>\nOutcome:\u00a0Gums precipitate out of the oil and are removed in the subsequent bleaching stage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deacidification (Neutralization)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Purpose:\u00a0To neutralize and remove\u00a0free fatty acids\u00a0(FFA), which affect oil quality and stability.<br \/>\nProcess:\u00a0In chemical refining, sodium hydroxide is used to react with FFAs, converting them into soap that is later removed.\u00a0In physical refining, a steam-based process is used.<br \/>\nOutcome:\u00a0The FFA content of the oil is significantly reduced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bleaching\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Purpose:\u00a0To remove color pigments and other impurities, improving the oil&#8217;s clarity and appearance.<br \/>\nProcess:\u00a0Activated bleaching earth (clay) is added to the oil and heated, adsorbing the color pigments.<br \/>\nOutcome:\u00a0The oil becomes lighter in color.\u00a0The bleaching earth is then filtered out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deodorization\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Purpose:\u00a0To eliminate undesirable flavors and odors, making the oil suitable for food products.<br \/>\nProcess:\u00a0The oil is heated under vacuum, and steam is injected to strip away volatile compounds responsible for the odor and taste.<br \/>\nOutcome:\u00a0The resulting oil is deodorized and has a neutral flavor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fractionation (Optional)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Purpose:\u00a0To separate palm oil into different liquid and solid fractions based on melting points, allowing for specialized applications.<br \/>\nProcess:\u00a0The refined oil is gradually cooled in a crystallizing vessel.\u00a0The liquid oil is then filtered to separate the solid palm stearin from the liquid palm olein.<br \/>\nOutcome:High-quality\u00a0palm olein palm stearin\u00a0(for industrial uses like soap and candles) are produced.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#contact\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter lazyload\" data-src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/inquire.jpg\" alt=\"\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 548px;
